The Cloquet Wood City Riders Snowmobile Club will hold its Leaf Spring Classic Vintage Snowmobile Ride on Saturday, Feb. 4. The ride will start at Big Lake Golf and proceed to Applebee’s where complimentary hot chocolate and coffee will be available. Riders will then return to Big Lake Golf for trophies, prizes and free chili. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. with the ride starting at 11 a.m. If there is insufficient snow, meet at Big Lake Golf for a show at 9 a.m.
The public is welcome to attend with old and new sleds. There is no cost for the event and machines 25 years and older do not need to be licensed for the ride.
Trophies will be given to the oldest sled to complete the ride, the most unique snowmobile suit, custom sled, antique 1969 or older, vintage 1970-1974, vintage 1975-1981, people’s choice, and a hard luck trophy.
“Machines range from fully restored, well preserved, daily driven, custom built, and all the way down to ‘barn fresh,’” said club member Mark Brown. “It’s always interesting to see what someone will find to bring out for a vintage ride.”
