A Cloquet man who was shot at his home early Sunday was in serious condition at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center on Monday afternoon.
Richard Alan Majerle, 38, suffered a gunshot wound in the chest. His wife is being held at the Carlton County Law Enforcement Center pending formal charges, Cloquet police said.
According to the Cloquet Police Department, officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Slate Street about 5:50 a.m. Sunday after Majerle called and reported that his wife had just shot him. Upon arriving, officers were met by Majerle and his 36-year-old wife. Officers located a gun believed to be the one used in the shooting.
The man was transported first to Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet and then to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. The woman was taken into custody without incident. The shooting remains under investigation.
