A Cloquet man was hospitalized and his wife arrested Sunday after an early morning shooting at a home on the city’s north side.
Richard Alan Majerle, 38, was listed in serious condition at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center this afternoon.
According to the Cloquet Police Department, officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Slate Street about 5:50 a.m. Sunday after Majerle called and reported that his wife had just shot him.
Upon arriving, officers were met by Majerle, who had a gunshot wound to the chest, and his 36-year-old wife. Officers located a gun believed to be the one used in the shooting.
The man was transported first to Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet and then transferred to Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center.
The woman was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the Carlton County Law Enforcement Center pending formal charges.
The incident remains under investigation.
