A Cloquet man is hospitalized and his wife in custody after a shooting at a home in that city early today.
According to the Cloquet Police Department, officers responded to a home in the 1200 block of Slate Street at about 5:50 a.m. after a male caller reported that his wife had just shot him. Upon arriving, officers were met by the 38-year-old husband, who had a gunshot wound to the chest, and his 36-year-old wife. Officers located a gun believed to be the one used in the shooting.
The man was transported first to Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet, and then transferred to Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. His condition was not available Sunday afternoon.
The woman was taken into custody without incident, and is being held at the Carlton County Law Enforcement Center pending formal charges.
The names of the victim and suspect have not been released. The incident remains under investigation.
