Looking to volunteer? Here are a few options
By: Jana Peterson, Pine Journal
According to Jill Hatfield, executive director of Volunteer Services of Carlton County, there are plenty of opportunities for folks who are inspired to volunteer.
Here are just a couple options to consider:
• The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to help with bell ringing outside the Walmart store. Call Jackie or Jason at 218-879-1693 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday as soon as possible to sign up for two-hour intervals. As well, call Jackie to volunteer at the Salvation Army’s Toy Set Up and Giveaway Dec. 12-13 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.
• Individuals and families willing to commit to a longer term volunteer relationship are invited to “adopt a senior” through Volunteer Services. Many seniors want to stay in their homes, but need a helping hand with shoveling the walks, mowing the lawn and more. Many enjoy family dinners with their adopted families as well.
Want to get involved? Call Volunteer Services at 218-879-9238 to find out more.
