We were surprised with a visit from our nephew, Robbie Crotteau, and his wife, Giselle, from Nevada along with his parents, Paul and Vera Crotteau, on Oct. 9. It’s been several years since we’ve seen Robbie so was great to get together, even if it was only for an hour or so.
We’ve had our two grandkids staying with us for the past three weeks. Sure is great to have them, but as most of you grandparents know, it’s a lot of work and responsibility, too.
Our sympathy to Barb Hart, Judy Von de Linde and the family on the recent death of their sister-in-law, Marlene Hart, after a long illness.
There will be a Hunter’s Supper at the school Friday, Nov. 4, from 4:30-7 p.m. put on by the school’s speech club.
The Annual Mojakka Supper will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, from 4:40-7 p.m. at the Lakeside Community Club, two miles south of Highway 210 on South Finn Road, County Road 22, in Wright. Supplemental funds have been applied for from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Chapter 31299.
The Area Clothing Depot is hosting a Coat and Sweater Giveaway through Oct. 29. The limit is one coat and three sweaters per person per visit. Also there are tons of new donated items for sale at the regular price of $4 a bag. The Clothing Depot is open on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteers are always needed to work at the Depot, too. So, if you have an hour or two or more, please try to help out.
The Third Annual “Chilloween” Party at the Cromwell Pavilion will be held Friday, Oct. 28. The fun begins at 5 p.m. and lasts until 8 p.m. for all ages. See the bus bulletin for more details.
Attention all servicemen and women: The Cardinal Court is proud to organize a U.S.O. (United Servicemen Organization) Dance on the eve of Veteran’s Day, Thursday, Nov.10, with music by Leland Ballou at 6:30 p.m. These dances were big events during World War II and were a home-away-from-home for GIs. They entertained the troops and took them away from the stresses of war. Come to see the veterans display at Cardinal Court arranged by Kenny Kangas. Can you still fit into your uniform? If so, wear it, and if not, bring your uniform and pictures to share. Everyone else can don his or her best patriotic outfits, too. Enjoy refreshments afterward. Please encourage your veterans or active duty military to attend. Everyone is welcome! Veteran’s Day this year is on 11-11-11. Share your stories and experiences with the Cromwell Wright Seniors at 9:30 a.m. in the Villa Activity Room. All are welcome for this, too.
Happy Birthday to Kathy Olson on 11-1-11. Hope she has a great day and does some fun things on this special unusual date.
I guess that’s all the news I have from Lake Happyhalloween and Hello to all our active duty military and veterans.
