Wright-Cromwell News

It was quite a shock to hear of the death of Shayla Johnson of Cromwell. Her funeral was held at Bethany Lutheran Church on Oct. 6, 2011, with at least 300 area folks and relatives in attendance.

Jackie Tuomi sent the following email to share with you:  “I thought maybe some folks in Minnesota would be interested in knowing that Hannah Tuomi, granddaughter of Gladys Clark of Cromwell, is playing  professional basketball in Iceland for the Hamar Basketball Club. She left in September and the season runs through the end of March. She is loving it! She says the countryside reminds her of Minnesota. Hannah is also writing a blog while she is there. Check it out at www. hannahtuomi.blogspot.com.” It’s great to hear that she is doing so well.

The Cardinal Court is proud to organize a U.S.O. (United Servicemen Organization) Dance on the eve of Veteran’s Day, Thursday, Nov. 10, with music by Leland Ballou at 6:30 p.m. These dances were big events during World War II and were a home-away-from-home for GIs. They entertained the troops and took them away from the stresses of war. Come to see the veterans display at Cardinal Court arranged by Kenny Kangas. Can you still fit into your uniform? If so, wear it, and if not, bring your uniform and pictures to share. Everyone else can don their best patriotic outfits, too. Enjoy refreshments afterward. Please encourage your veterans or active duty military to attend. Everyone is welcome! Veteran’s Day this year is on 11-11-11. Share your stories and experiences with the Cromwell-Wright Seniors at 9:30 a.m. in the Villa activity room. All are welcome for this, too.

A Chill-O-Ween Party will be held Oct. 28 at the Cromwell Park Pavilion, with the time to be determined at a later date.

Parents Night will be held for football and cross country teams on Oct. 14. More details will be in the Bus Bulletin. Parents Night for volleyball will be Oct.18. There will be an appreciation dinner Oct. 17, so look for invitations soon.

Don’t forget to sign up for the Senior Day at the DECC on Oct.19. Call Lindsay Lally at 218-644-3739 soon!

That’s all the news from Lake Leavesallgone and Hello to all of Shayla’s relatives. She will be deeply missed and I’m sure the family appreciates all the thoughts, prayers, visits and words of comfort. No one knows how much such a loss hurts unless you have gone through it yourself and the more we hurt, the more we have loved the person that is gone. Take time to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you, too.
