By: Press release, Pine Journal
A family of five is being assisted by the Northland Chapter of the American Red Cross after their Moose Lake home was extensively damaged by fire on Thursday. According to Red Cross officials the family, which includes 3 children between 4 months and 5 years of age, will receive clothing, lodging and food assistance.
Red Cross disaster relief includes emergency lodging, food, clothing, medicine, and medical supplies. Help is based on disaster-related needs and takes the form of cash cards for use in local businesses, to encourage clients to participate in their own recovery. In this way the Northland Chapter also contributes as much as $100,000 annually to area economies.
Each year the Northland Chapter serves victims of about 100 disasters across the Northland and maintains a trained cadre of dozens of trained volunteers who respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
