Wright-Cromwell News

The guys (and sometimes a gal or two) at WKLK who do the Northland Magazine Show in Cloquet on Saturday mornings from 7-9 a.m. asked me to mention them in this column. Well, what can I say? They get up early on Saturday to inform and entertain their area listeners, not knowing how many are listening or who will call in. All I can say about this program is: “I love it” and set my alarm to be sure I don’t miss a minute of it. Now, the only way you can find out if you will love it, too, is to tune in and maybe you will even hear me give them a hard time on the air! One of these mornings, I may even show up with the best homemade chocolate cookies in the county.
Lonnie Bradford sends this greeting via email: “Happy Labor Day from Afghanistan! Today I was surprised to receive a generous package from the kids at the St. John’s Vacation Bible School in Wright. The package was tremendous and stuffed with heartwarming cards from all the kids as well as a class picture and snacks to share with the soldiers that come to my clinic. Thanks to Eli and Grace Swanson, Brady Dahl, Mikey and Lacie Zoeller, Amanda Hakamaki, Ryanne Schultz, Aiden Lehti, Michael and Megan, Mateo and Adam Sandoval, and Elisabeth and Andrew Kachinske. Special thanks also to their parents for raising a thoughtful group of kids and to our bible school teachers. Please also let Elisabeth know that the troops out here were touched that she saved up her own money to buy an enormous bag of Mike and Ike’s candy for us all to share.”
It is great to hear from our deployed military out there. We especially keep them in our prayers and hope for a safe
return.
I recently received a note from DiAnn Larson and she gave me some addresses of our deployed military. If you feel up to it, please send these guys a note to let them know you are keeping them in mind: Robert Larson and/or Logan Shiflett, C TRP, 1-94 CAV, APO AE 09330. Remember that mail is so important to our military members.
Everyone is welcome to the Villa Vista /Cardinal Court Family and Friends Fall Festival Picnic on Thursday, Sept. 15, at noon. Enjoy the barbeque cooked by Upper Lakes Foods and stay for music by Lorren Lindevig at 1:30 p.m.
Sunday school will begin at Bethlehem in Wright on Sept. 11 and at Bethany Lutheran in Cromwell on Sept. 18.
Last Friday, Sept. 2, nine folks gathered at our home for the second annual National Hot Dog Day Celebration. As part of our celebration we had a style show of silly costumes and elected the first “Teeny Weenie, Weenie Queenie!” The first queen was decided by a trivia contest and this year’s winner was the one-and-only Greta Kulju of McGregor. She will “reign” for the next year, so if you need a celebrity to help with any promotions just call Greta.
That’s all the news from Lake Greattogetbacktoschool and try to attend the Harvest Fest Events in Cromwell
Sept. 9-11.
