Updated: Level 3 sex offender takes up residence in Scanlon

The Cloquet Police Department will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. Monday about a Level 3 sex offender Joseph John Couture has moved into the area of River Gate Avenue in Scanlon.

The Cloquet Police Department announced that Level 3 sex offender Joseph John Couture has moved into the area of River Gate Avenue in Scanlon.

Couture, 40, will be the subject of a required community forum set for 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8 at the Scanlon Community Center, 2801 Dewey Ave. in Scanlon.

In May 2007, Couture pleaded guilty in Carlton County court to sexually assaulting a girl between the ages of 8 and 11. He was released in May after about four years in prison and is now on “intensive supervised probation.”
