One dead in car-train accident near Wright

The driver of a passenger car is dead after a collision with a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train on Minnesota Highway 210 in Carlton County just before 8 a.m. today.

The accident happened where the highway intersects with Birchwood Drive near Wright.

The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Cromwell Ambulance and Wright First Responders were dispatched to the scene where the driver of the passenger vehicle was found dead on arrival. Sheriff’s investigators, the Minnesota State Patrol and Burlington Northern are investigating the accident.

The name, gender and hometown of the victim have not yet been released.
