Carlton County officials are reminding veterans living in the county that they may be eligible for payments to help defer cleanup costs from June’s floods.

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs has approved an application process that may pay veterans up to $750 in reimbursement for such expenses as appliances, furnaces, building materials, cleaning supplies, clothing, flooring, food, plumbing supplies and rental costs for generators, water pumps, sump pumps, backhoes and chainsaws.

To get an application form, contact the Carlton County Veterans Service Office at (218) 499-6838. Applications and copies of receipts must be dated between June 13 and Sept. 30.
