Cromwell-Wright softball finishes winless

The Cardinals season is over.
In years past, East Central has been a team Cromwell-Wright has fared well with on the softball diamond. But last Thursday wasn’t the case, as the Cardinals were pounded on the road 11-1 by the Eagles in a Section 5A playoffs play-in game.
The affair was never close. Sixth-seeded East Central – who beat Cromwell-Wright 14-1 earlier this spring – walloped their visitors again.
The loss ended the season for the Cardinals (0-13). But their winless mark was quite deceiving this year. According to Coach Brad Ramberg, his girls were competitive and hit the ball. Pitching was their only weakness.
Top hitters for Cromwell-Wright this spring included Lisa Peterson, Dayna Elmer, sisters Hannah and Haley Shelton, and Kaylan Risacher.
