It wasn’t the nicest of days, but the annual Cloquet Girls Golf Invitational was held Monday.
Pelting rain and whipping wind made for a difficult afternoon on the links for the ladies at the Cloquet Country Club, where nine teams fought off the elements.
“It was miserable,” said Lumberjacks Coach Mary Carey. “First it started sprinkling, then the wind picked up and it just continued to rain off and on all day long.”
Of the nine teams in attendance, Grand Rapids was crowned the Invite champion.
The Thunderhawks won with their 340 total net score. Esko-Carlton finished at 442 and the ’Jacks turned in a 514 with their depleted roster, minus two of their top golfers.
The Lake Superior Conference girls and boys meet was also held at the CCC Wednesday afternoon as this edition of the Pine Journal went to press.
