Stanley Merton Sander, 63, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, May 3, 2011.

Stanley Merton Sander, 63, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. He was born Sept. 21, 1947, in Duluth, Minn., to Merton and Ione (Larson) Sander. Stan worked at Potlatch Corporation/Sappi for over 40 years and retired three years ago as maintenance superintendent. He loved traveling, fishing and visiting with family and friends. Stan also enjoyed listening to country music and feeding the birds. His motor home was his pride and joy aside from his family.

Stan was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Myra; four children, Sharon (Al) Bottila of Esko, Minn., Daryl (Sandy) Sander of Lacey, Wash., John (Diane) Sander of Taylors Falls, Minn., and Brad (Robin) Sander of Cloquet; eight grandchildren, Kristina and Michaela Bottila, Dayton, Dawson, Diesel, Jens, Austin and Hunter Sander; his mother, Ione Sander of Cloquet; one sister, Susie (Richard) Paulson of Culver, Minn.; one brother, Tim (Deb Swartz) Sander of Duluth; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Sunday, May 8, from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. memorial service at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet, officiated by the Rev. Linda Schumacher. Refreshments followed in the fellowship room.
