Bethesda Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carlton is celebrating its 125th anniversary during 2011.
“Founded by a small group of Swedish people living in what was then known as N.P. Junction, Bethesda has been blessed to be a blessing to area communities for 125 years!” said Myrna Postal, Bethesda Anniversary Committee chair.
Over the years, the Carlton church has established a reputation for ecumenical worship opportunities and many community outreach services including Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE), NAA, Early Childhood Screening, scouting troops, 4-H clubs, Carlton High School groups, Friends Feeding Friends, the SHARE food program and many other services.
“The church’s annual bazaar and meatball supper are traditions that many in surrounding communities look forward to attending. Bethesda’s mission and ministry reaching the 125-year milestone is definitely cause for celebration!” said Postal.
All are welcome to attend any of the church’s planned anniversary activities which include: Special coffee hour on Sunday, May 8; participation in the Carlton Daze Parade the last Sunday in July; special worship on All Saint’s Sunday (Nov. 6); and the Anniversary Banquet and Program on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012.
Anyone with special comments, memories or information about Bethesda that might be appropriate for use during the celebrations is asked to contact the church office at 218-384-4501.
