Theodore 'Ted' Fredrick Hanson

Theodore "Ted" Fredrick Hanson, 76, of Carlton, Minn., passed away Monday, April 11, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, Minn., surrounded by his family.

Theodore "Ted" Fredrick Hanson, 76, of Carlton, Minn., passed away Monday, April 11, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, Minn., surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 28, 1934, in Duluth to Arthur and Hattie Hanson and moved to the Cloquet/Carlton area in 1969. Ted was united in marriage to Lucille Heikkinen on Aug. 2, 1969, in Cloquet. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Cloquet Cribbage League. Ted was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, bowling, dancing, traveling, playing bingo and cribbage.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille; one son, Scott (Monica) Hanson of Carlton, Minn.; six daughters, Debra Swanson of St. Paul, Minn., Pamela Suominen of Pittsburgh, Penn., Brenda Abramowski of Duluth, Kimberly (David) Buskala of Cloquet, Patsy (Brian) Gilderman of Saginaw, Minn., and Heidi (Thomas) Peterson of Cloquet; one brother, Leonard Hanson of Brookston, Minn.; two sister-in-laws, Freda Hanson of Mesa, Ariz., and Lorraine Hanson of Proctor, Minn.; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 15, from noon until the 1 p.m. memorial service at Nelson Funeral Care, 1004 Cloquet Ave., Cloquet. Refreshments and a time of fellowship will follow.
