Two arrests have been made in the January Cromwell homicides of Kim Schmitz and Tom Holm.
Arrested at 2 a.m. today in Hennepin County were Rachel Charlotte Defoe, 25, and David Joshua Annette, 28, according to Carlton County Attorney Thom Pertler and Hennepin County arrest records. Three law enforcement agencies participated in the uneventful arrests, Pertler said. Annette is also known as Josh Martineau, he said.
“All law enforcement agencies are breathing a big sigh of relief right now,” Pertler said.
Carlton County Sheriff Kelly Lake said in a news release that she will hold a press conference on the arrests at 11:45 a.m. at the Carlton County Transportation Building.
Schmitz and Holm, both 53, were found dead Jan. 9 in their home just outside Cromwell. Holm's burned pickup truck was found the night before near Saginaw, about 35 miles away.
