I come to you this week with a very heavy heart and the sympathy of our whole community and surrounding area for the tragic deaths of Tom Holm and Kim Schmitz. The event that happened on Krogh Road on Jan. 8, 2011, is an event in our area that is almost impossible to believe. Our hearts go out to the families of these two individuals and we can only pray for the families and friends for healing and comfort.

I have again proved that I write the “Wright News” and the “Wrong News.” It was pointed out to me that instead of mentioning the “Black Jack Grill” in a recent news article, I made the mistake of typing the Black Bear Grill. Well, I guess it was a simple mistake, but not to our local restaurant the Black Jack. I’m truly sorry for this, but thanks for pointing it out to me. I proof-read the news several times before sending them in, but never caught that one. I always appreciate when someone points outs a correction, and also appreciate the many who thank me for writing the news in the first place. The writing of a local news column is a dying thing and there aren’t many of us local correspondents left anymore. So, if you find a mistake, or have news for me to add, please let me know! By the way, I get no pay for this service. I do receive the papers for my efforts, which I do appreciate a lot.
There will be an AARP 55 Alive First-time Safe Driving Class on Jan. 21 and 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pavilion in Cromwell. Call Lindsay Lally at 218-644-3739 to register, or just show up on the first day.
Congratulations to the 2011 Homecoming Court. Queen candidates are Emily Hendrickson, Lisa Peterson, Hannah Shelton, Haley Shelton and Amber Witz. King candidates are Nick Berg, Michael Hedin, Dylan Mattson, Derek Suhonen and Jordan Suhonen.
Be sure to save your Wright Co-op Store sales slips, because the store may be able to give out rebates next year for this year. This is not for sure, but it may pay to save those slips.
That’s all the news from Lake Sympathytothoseinmourning and Hello to all the friends and relatives who are grieving in our communities.
