Margaret Ann Peterson, 79, of Cloquet, Minn., died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, in Community Memorial Hospital, Cloquet. She was born Jan. 29, 1931, in Duluth, Minn., the daughter of Carl and Hilda Borgen. Margaret graduated from Barnum High School in 1948. She attended Duluth Business University after high school. On May 17, 1952, Margaret Borgen and Allen Andrew Peterson were united in marriage. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and was very involved in the Women's Circle. She retired from St. Louis County Social Services in 1988.
Marge had an adventurous spirit; she parasailed in Hawaii, traveled to Scotland, England and Germany. Marge and Al made several trips to Branson where they enjoyed the variety of musical events. She loved to travel, read and play board games. Family, friends and faith were most important to her.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, son Gerald, sister Mary, and grandson Karl.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Allen; children, Joan Peterson of Mahtowa, Minn., Wendy (Doug) Fetters of Mahtowa, and Warren (Suzy) Peterson of Carlton; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister Jean Carlson of Minneapolis, Minn.; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends who will miss her dearly.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the CCMH staff for their support and encouragement and their care of Marge.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet. Visitation continued Thursday, Dec. 30, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service in Bethany Baptist Church, Duluth.
