Tischer’s photographs aren’t the typical snapshots you expect to see from a local nature photographer. His work is brilliant in color, large in scale, and possesses creative elements that can only be described visually.
“My goal as a nature photographer is to accurately portray the emotional essence of a scene,” said Tischer, originally of Carlton. “I’m more of an artist and less of a journalist, so what concerns me is capturing how I felt when I took an image, instead of exactly what the camera saw.”
His images often utilize long exposures to create what he calls a “painterly” effect within his photographs. Tischer’s presentation is also noteworthy, as he often prints his images large and onto canvas.
“The canvas adds a certain dimension to the work and also allows the image to be displayed without any reflection,” said Tischer.
Recently, Tischer has been expanding his portfolio of images to include the Southwest and Pacific Northwest.
“I’ve always felt a strong desire to explore new places,” said Tischer.
This past March, he returned from Arizona and Utah with iconic scenes from Monument Valley and the Colorado River. More recently, his trip to Olympic National Park in Washington state brought images of moss-covered rain forest and stunning Pacific beaches overlooked by sea stacks. All of these new photographs will be exhibited in his upcoming show. His work can also be viewed at www.ryantischerphoto.com.
