Rainy River swept Fond du Lac in their Minnesota College Athletic Conference openers on Wednesday night in Cloquet.
The Voyageurs (1-12) took the men’s contest 83-77 as William Sparkman had 31 points. Carlos Holcey had 33 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Thunder (0-11). Alton Dixon added 21 points, 17 rebounds, five blocks and two steals and Tyler Campbell chipped in with 19 points and six rebounds.
Rainy River won the women’s contest 91-27 as LaNae Rash had 32 points, eight rebounds and eight steals. Tarra Lind had 10 points and Sammy Johnson had nine points and seven rebounds.
