Rachel Diers scored two goals and the Chisago Lakes Area Wildcats jumped to a two-goal lead over the Esko-Carlton girls soccer team in the first 15 minutes en route to winning the Section 7A championship tonight at PSS, 3-1.
Diers knocked Cassandra Trandahl’s crossing pass off her midsection in the eighth minute, and the speedy Trandahl struck on a breakaway seven minutes later for a 2-0 lead.
Eskomos senior midfielder Savannah Schramm headed in a deflection on a corner kick in the 48th minute, but Diers ended any hopes of a comeback when she kicked the ball underneath Rachel Ofstie’s outstretched arms in the 66th minute.
Chisago Lakes (15-5-1) advances to the Class A quarterfinals against an opponent-to-be determined next week.
Esko-Carlton finished 11-7-1.
