Cloquet man arrested in connection with robbery of pizza place

A 23-year-old Cloquet man was arrested without incident today when detectives acted on a search warrant at a residence in Cloquet.

Acting on a tip, Cloquet police detectives made an arrest today in the Aug. 22 Casino Pizza robbery case.

A 23-year-old Cloquet man was arrested without incident today when detectives acted on a search warrant at a residence in Cloquet. Police said they found a 9mm semi automatic pistol believed to be used in the robbery. The man is being held the Carlton County Law-Enforcement, where he awaits formal charging, which is expected Wednesday.

According to the police report, a man walked into the Casino Pizza & Sub Shop at 7 N. 13th St. at 7:15 p.m. waving a handgun and demanding workers open the till and place money into a small box he was carrying.

When workers did not comply, the man fled and headed north on 13th Street. The suspect was described as a white male, 18-25 years old and approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a thin build.

The News Tribune generally does not name suspects until they are formally charged.
