Klobuchar Congratulates UMD Women’s Hockey Team at White House Ceremony

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar joined members of the University of Minnesota-Duluth women’s hockey team to congratulate them on capturing the 2009-2010 NCAA championship title. Members of the national champion team were honored Monday at a White House reception with President Obama.

“The Bulldogs have done it again – coming from behind at the start of the season to bring home the national title for a record-breaking fifth time,” Klobuchar said. “This talented young women dug deep, sharpened their skates, and rose to the top. We Minnesotans are proud to claim them as our own.”

The defending national champion Bulldogs made their fifth White House trip in the past decade. Led by coach Shannon Miller, the Bulldogs posted a record of 31-8-2 and beat Cornell in triple overtime in the 2009-2010 Division I National Championship.
