• Darin Daveau of Esko was named to the spring 2010 dean’s list at Winona State University. Students honored achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5.

• Autumn Day, daughter of Drs. Don and Priscilla Day of Bemidji, Minn., formerly of Cloquet, graduated from A.T. Still University-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) in Kirksville, Mo., on May 15. She is a 2001 graduate of Duluth East High School and a 2005 graduate of Cornell University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in human biology with a minor in American Indian Studies. She and her husband, Chad Broker-Anderson, reside in Tucson, Ariz., where she will complete her four-year residency at the University of Arizona, specializing in psychiatry.

• Kelsey Kathleen Lund of Cloquet was named to the 2010 spring semester dean’s list from the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities by achieving a grade point average of 3.666 or higher. She is the daughter of John and Kathy Lund of Cloquet.

• Katelyn Ann Lamirande and Brieanna Watters, both of Cloquet, were named to the dean’s list for spring 2010 at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minn. To qualify, students must earn a grade point average of 3.50 or higher. Lamirande is the daughter of Wade and Tammy Lamirande; Watters is the daughter of Timothy Watters.

• The following area students were named to the 2010 spring semester dean’s list at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College in Cloquet by maintaining a grade point average of 3.0 or higher:

• Three local students have been awarded scholarships by the College of Saint Benedict for the 2010-2011 academic year. They are first-year students at CSB.

Tess M. Mattson, daughter of Russell and Dawn Mattson of Esko, has been awarded a $12,000 President’s Scholarship and Kaitlyn Proulx, daughter of Don and Elisa Proulx of Culver, has been awarded a $13,000 President’s Scholarship. The President’s Scholarship is presented to students with excellent academic records and strong leadership and service credentials. It is a four-year renewable scholarship.

Brianna Peterson, daughter of Warren and Suzy Peterson of Carlton, has been awarded a $6,000 MaPCoRes Scholarship and a $16,000 Regents’/ Trustees’ Scholarship. The MaPCoRes Scholarship is awarded to women interested in computer science, engineering, math, physics and research. The Regents’/Trustees’ Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship awarded by the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University. To be eligible, students must have a 3.60 high school grade-point average and obtain a score of 30 or higher on the ACT. They must also have demonstrated outstanding leadership and service during their high school years. The final phase of the scholarship competition involves an on-campus interview with college faculty. It is a four-year renewable award.

• The following students were named to the University of St. Thomas spring semester dean’s list by posting a grade point average of 3.5 or higher: junior Ashton Johnson of Cloquet; junior Katrina Korman of Cloquet; senior Patrick Tierney of Cloquet; senior Sara Wappes of Cloquet; junior Sarah Beyer of Esko; junior Ryan Eskuri of Esko; and senior Joseph Sunnarborg of Esko.

• The following students graduated from The College of St. Scholastica on May 16: Molly Bubb, daughter of Keith and Michelle Bubb of Cloquet, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in organizational behavior and plans to attend graduate school; Rebecca DeCaigny, daughter of Bob and Peggy DeCaigny of Cloquet, earned with Bachelor of Arts degree in social work, received the Benedictine Scholarship and was on the dean’s list; and Cameron Kirk, son of Jeff Kirk of Hermantown and Mary Houck of Dunbar, W.V., earned with a Bachelor of Arts degree in management and plans to continue the MBA graduate program at St. Scholastica.
