The Members Cooperative Credit Union Community Youth Foundation has

granted $500 toward an Early Literacy Station for the Cloquet Public

Library. MCCU’s mission statement acknowledges projects that would

directly or indirectly benefit community youth. In a similar gesture, the

Wood City Riders Snowmobile Club donated $250 toward the Early Literacy

Station project. The Snowmobile Club has been a longtime supporter of

children’s resources at the library.

The Cloquet Public Library is in the process of replacing its outdated

computer stations for young children with the popular AWE Early Literacy

Station. The all-in-one learning station comes preloaded with more than 60

top-rated developmental software titles that encourage, engage and

challenge youthful patrons through a variety of interactive programs

promoting literacy, math, science, and the arts.

The total cost for one Early Literacy Station is approximately $2,800.00.

Two stations have already been purchased through generous donations from

patrons, the Friends of the Cloquet Public Library, the Kiwanis Golden K

of Cloquet, The Kiwanis Club of Cloquet and a grant from the Minnesota

Library Foundation. The current bequests will go toward the purchase of a

third station. The library’s goal is to acquire four AWE Early Literacy

Stations. For more information on the project and how you can contribute,

call 879-1531.
