A Cloquet man is facing criminal charges after Cloquet Police detectives allegedly found a large amount of methamphetamine in his vehicle.

Jonathan Henry Christian, 36, was charged last Friday in Carlton County District Court with one count of second-degree controlled substance crime for possession of meth and misdemeanor no proof of insurance by driver.

According to the complaint:

After Cloquet detectives received information that Christian had been making trips to southern Minnesota to purchase and bring back large quantities of the drug, they received a tip that he was going to make such a trip on April 20.

As Christian entered the Cloquet city limits that day, detectives stopped his vehicle and ascertained that Christian was driving although his driving privileges had been suspended and without the proof of insurance.

Fond du Lac Police Sgt. Casey Rennquist walked his drug dog around the vehicle and he alerted to a controlled substance in the cargo area of Christian’s truck. A hollow 7-Up can with a false top was found with 14 grams of meth inside.

Christian’s bond was set at $60,000 and he remains in Carlton County Jail.
