A Cloquet man faces felony domestic assault charges after an incident which allegedly sent his girlfriend to the hospital emergency room on Sunday.

Kevin Adam Liebeck, 27, was charged Monday in Carlton County Court with felony domestic assault by strangulation, felony third-degree assault, interfering with a 911 call, and misdemeanor domestic assault.

According to the complaint, Liebeck went to his girlfriend’s home in Cloquet on Sunday, and after starting an argument, he hit her, causing her to fall into a coffee table. He then applied pressure to her neck and when she said she was going to call 911, he grabbed her phone and threw it out of reach.

The victim’s face was bleeding when officers arrived and they saw red marks on her face and bruising on her neck. At the hospital, she also received stitches in her foot for a cut she received during the assault.

Liebeck’s bond was set at $25,000.
