Cloquet High School students participate in ACDA Honors Choirs
Nick Short, a sophomore at Cloquet Senior High School, participated in the American Choral Director’s Association Mixed Honor choir for grades nine and 10. He auditioned for and was selected to perform with the group at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis as part of the Minnesota Music Educator’s Mid-Winter Clinic. Jeff Redding, from Orlando, Fla., served as the clinician for this event.
Madeline Pertler, a senior at Cloquet Senior High School, auditioned for and was selected to sing with the Minnesota Mixed All-State Choir at Orchestra Hall. Pertler has represented Cloquet as a member of the Minnesota All-State choirs for the last two years. Karen Kennedy, choral director at Towson University in Maryland, is the director of the Mixed Minnesota All-State Choir.
The University of Minnesota Duluth hosted the annual Junior High/Middle School Honor Choir at Weber Hall under the direction of Andrew Haase from Hudson, Wis. Cloquet students who participated were Katelyn Litke, Tara Longseth, Alexis Kettelhut, Haris Mian, Nick Niemi, Jack Pertler, Dan Reimer, William Riihiluoma, Alex Smedshammer and Mercadees VanGuilder.
