Irene Anderson, 96, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at Community Memorial Hospital, Cloquet.
Irene Anderson, 96, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at Community Memorial Hospital, Cloquet. She was born Oct. 15, 1913, in Denham, Minn., to Andrew and Matilda (Boman) Larson and was raised on the farm where she loved to be outside doing hard work. Irene and her husband, John William Anderson, owned and operated the Rutledge Highway Store for many years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Cloquet and was a woman who loved her family, her Lord, and was the nicest person you could ever meet. Irene also loved the aides at the Sunnyside Health Care Center who treated her so well.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John William Anderson Sr.; her only son, John William Anderson Jr., who died in 1997, and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Anne Anderson of Cloquet; four grandchildren, Keni Anderson of Cloquet, Angela Anderson of Duluth, Minn., Chris (Lori) Anderson of Cloquet and Andrew (Tara) Anderson of Cloquet; 11 great-grandchildren, Winston, Paris, Portia, Xavier, John "Alex," Michael, Levi, Jett, McKenzie, Brady and Gabrielle; two great-great-grandchildren, Stori and Pierce; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, at Nelson Funeral Care, 1004 Cloquet Ave., Cloquet. The visitation will resume Monday, Feb. 1, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Zion Lutheran Church, 1000 Washington Ave., Cloquet, followed by a luncheon and time of fellowship. Spring interment service will be a Faith Lutheran Cemetery in Denham.
