I’d like to extend our sincere sympathy to the family of Claude Dale Smootz, 86, of Esko who passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at his home. He was active with the Carlton County Retired Educators group and volunteered at the Little Red Schoolhouse at the County Fair in Barnum each year, where his services were really appreciated. We’ll miss him.

The ECFE classes begin Jan. 26 at the school. New families are welcome to join. Call the school at 218-644-3716 ext. 4100 for more information.

The Murder Mystery Dinner Theater will be held Feb. 13. Call Linda at 218-644-3484 or Jeanne at 218-343-5059 for more information.

There were over 600 area teachers who met at an in-service workshop at the Barnum school Monday, Jan. 19. Then, the Cromwell-Wright teachers and staff met at school for an in-service on Tuesday.

Bethlehem Lutheran will hold their annual meeting Sunday, Jan. 31, after the 10:30 a.m. service. A potluck dinner will follow the meeting. Note the time change! Bethany will have services at 9 a.m. on Jan. 31 to enable the pastor to attend Bethlehem’s meeting.

That’s all the news from Lake LovethisJanuarythaw and Hello to the family of the late Mark Chmielewski.
