WLSSD honored for financial reporting excellence

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District’s Finance Department by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

“WLSSD’s Finance Department has been honored with this award for the 25th straight year, despite some extreme challenges,” said WLSSD Executive Director Marianne Bohren. “The receipt of this award illustrates the outstanding leadership, dedication and hard work shown by our Director of Finance, Cathy Remington, and all of the finance staff.”

The GFOA is a non-profit professional association serving approximately 16,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, Ill., and Washington, D.C.

Western Lake Superior Sanitary District provides award-winning wastewater and solid waste services to residents, businesses and industries within its 500 square mile legislative boundaries in southern St. Louis and northern Carlton counties, and is a nationally recognized leader in pollution prevention.
