Jamie Joe Malmquist, 29, of Meadowlands, Minn., formerly of Munger, Esko and Duluth, Minn., died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, from injuries sustained in a car/pedestrian accident. He was born Nov. 2, 1980, in Duluth to Charlene (Hansen) and Norman Carl Malmquist. Jamie was a member of St. James Catholic Church where he attended grade school. He married Maria Massingill on July 7, 2007, in St. James. Jamie was a mechanic/welder and loved working. As a mechanic, he would always help his friends with different projects.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert Sr. and Jeanne Hansen.
He is survived by his wife, Maria; his children, Emma Jean and Andrew Scott Malmquist, and Aubrey Lucia of Hermantown, Minn.; his mother, Charlene (Peter) Moser of Esko, Minn.; his father, Norman Carl Malmquist of Duluth; sisters, Alayna Moser of Proctor, Minn., and Kaylie, Theresa and Rachelle Moser, all of Esko; brothers, Christopher Moser of Duluth and Matthew Moser of Esko; a special niece, Lillian Hester; paternal grandparents, Doris and Stanford Malmquist of Duluth; half-siblings, Michael and Maurissa Malmquist, both of Duluth; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, in Williams Lobermeier Funeral Home, 3208 W. 3rd St., Duluth, with Rosary Prayers at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday, Jan. 16, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. James Catholic Church, 715 N. 57th Ave. W, Duluth. Burial will be in Hermantown Cemetery.
