Sloan Sophia Olean was the first baby of the New Year in Moose Lake, born to parents Melissa and Shawn Olean of Sturgeon Lake, Minn. Sloan was born Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Mercy Hospital and Health Care Center in Moose Lake, Minn., and weighed 9 pounds, 12 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Dale and Susan Sloan of Esko, Minn., and paternal grandparents are Steven and Lu Olean of Carlton, Minn. Great-grandparents are Faith and the late Alvin Sloan of Cloquet, Minn., Elvina and the late Wilbert Soukkala of Sawyer, Minn., the late Arne and Gladyce Holmi of Esko, and Bud and Donna Olean of Carlton.
