WLSSD honored for financial reporting excellence for 25th straight year

(Chicago)-The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District's Finance Department by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).

Reporting has been awarded to the Western Lake Superior Sanitary

District's Finance Department by the Government Finance Officers

Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive

annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the

highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and

financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant

accomplishment by a government and its management.

"WLSSD's Finance Department has been honored with this award for the

25th straight year, despite some extreme challenges," said WLSSD

executive director, Marianne Bohren. "The receipt of this award illustrates the outstanding leadership,

dedication and hard work shown by our Director of Finance, Cathy

Remington, and all of the finance staff," continued Bohren.

The GFOA is a non-profit professional association serving approximately

16,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL, and

Washington, D.C.

Western Lake Superior Sanitary District provides award-winning

wastewater and solid waste services to residents, businesses and

industries within its 500 square mile legislative boundaries in Southern

St. Louis and northern Carlton counties, and is a nationally recognized

leader in pollution prevention.
