A man was killed Saturday night in a Carlton County snowmobile accident.

A man was killed Saturday night in a Carlton County snowmobile accident.

The sheriff’s office responded to the accident in Perch Lake Township around 10 p.m. The snowmobile driver was traveling on road, was unable to negotiate a turn and skidded into a wooded area. He was ejected from the snowmobile and died from his injuries. There were no passengers on the snowmobile.

Excessive speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in the crash, the sheriff’s office said. They encourage snowmobilers to reduce their speed, especially at night and remind them not to drink and operate a snowmobile.

The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office and Fond Du Lac Police are investigating the crash. The victim’s name has not been released.
