A. Esther Laine, 75, a long-time resident of Esko, Minn., died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, in Community Memorial Hospital, Cloquet, Minn.
A. Esther Laine, 75, a long-time resident of Esko, Minn., died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, in Community Memorial Hospital, Cloquet, Minn. She was born in 1934 in Becker County, Minn.,to John and Elsa Laine. Esther attended schools in Duluth, Minn., and Cloquet, graduating from Cloquet High School in 1952. She worked in Cloquet at USG for two years and then at Potlatch for 39 years.
Esther was an active and very faithful member of Apostolic Lutheran Church in Esko where she taught Sunday school for 27 years. She took comfort in the verse “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain,” Philippians 1:21. Esther had a lake cabin for 35 years and she felt that her cabin was a gift from God to be shared with anyone and everyone. She enjoyed traveling and was a member of Esko Senior Citizens, Esko Historical Society and Potlatch Quarter Century Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elsa.
Esther is survived by one aunt, Helen Engel of Spokane, Wash.; numerous cousins; and many Christian brothers and sisters in faith.
Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 30, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet, followed by a luncheon in the Fireside Room of the funeral home. Burial will be in Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery, Esko.
