Mark Alan Seeland, 47, of Saginaw, Minn., died from a brain aneurysm Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, in St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by his family. The son of Harold and Marilyn Seeland, Mark was born in 1962 in Duluth. He was a 1980 graduate of AlBrook High School.
Mark was a concrete landscaper for Natural Design in San Jose and Auburn, Calif., Colorado Hardscape in Denver, Colo., Custom Rock in St. Paul, Minn., and Deschryver Concrete in Truckee, Calif., and owned a company named Natural Design in Denver for two years. For the past year, Mark lived in Saginaw and helped his mother and family.
An avid outdoorsman, Mark loved the warm weather and driving his ’69 Corvette Stingray. He enjoyed playing ping pong, water and snow skiing, parasailing and other outdoor activities.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Seeland; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and a niece, Jessica Seeland.
Mark will be deeply missed by his daughter, Kayla Marie Seeland of Loyalton, Calif.; his mother, Marilyn Seeland of Saginaw; two brothers, Craig (Chris) Seeland of Duluth, Minn., and Brian (Bridget) Seeland of Saginaw; three sisters, Kathy (Chip) Kubis of Saginaw, Linda (Mark) Ridgewell of Duluth and Debra (Greg) Neve of New Orleans, La.; 10 nieces and nephews, Amanda, Jessica, Daniel, Derek, Matthew, Jay, Shealynn, Elana, MacKenzie and Connor; and a very special friend, Douglas “Dougie” Thompson of Duluth.
The family wishes to offer their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of St. Luke’s Hospital 6 West ICU for their support and care of Mark, and also to those that left and continue to leave many comforting memories on Caring Bridge.org. Because Mark’s family lovingly gave life to others by donating his organs and tissue, in his memory, please give consideration to becoming a donor.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in the Fireside Room of Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street. Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Private family inurnment will be in New Calvary Cemetery, Cloquet.
