Two men were arrested Sunday after an incident in which gunshots were fired at a home near Kettle River, according to Brian Belich, Carlton County deputy sheriff.

Carlton County Sheriff’s officers responded to the home around 11 p.m. Sunday after a caller reported a “jealous husband outside with a gun” on County Road 129 in Automba Township.

A 33-year-old Kettle River man had come home from deer hunting and had gone to the neighbor’s residence and knocked on the door, Belich reported. When no one answered, the man allegedly entered the home and found his wife and another man in a bedroom.

The man then left the house, but returned with a loaded gun, Belich said. The man’s father was also at the residence by this time and the two allegedly made threats and assaulted the man inside. Three bullet casings were found at the scene and the victim suffered injuries to his face, although he was not shot, according to Belich. Additionally, he said alcohol was a factor in the incident.

The two men remain in Carlton County Jail and felony criminal charges are expected Tuesday.
