The following are some of the court cases heard Oct. 5-9, 2009, in Carlton County Court:

Samuel James Carlson, 23, of Duluth – felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle: commit to Commissioner of Corrections for 15 months, to run concurrently with other charges.

Joshua Jay Wise, 19, of Cloquet – misdemeanor possess over 1.4 grams marijuana in a motor vehicle and petty misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia: payable without appearance.

John Stuart Vang, 21, of Duluth – misdemeanor no driver’s license in possession and petty misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia: payable without appearance.

Michael Ervin Dahl, 34, of Ogema, Minn. – misdemeanor driving after suspension: payable without appearance.

Amy Lynn Calverly, 30, of Esko – gross misdemeanor theft: 1 year local confinement stayed 1 year for 2 years, 2 years supervised probation, fined $130, remain law-abiding, sign probation agreement, pay restitution.

Chad Patrick Staton, 18, of Cloquet – felony 1st degree burglary/dwelling occupied: commit to Commissioner of Corrections for 21 months stayed 5 years, 5 years supervised probation, 9 months local confinement, fined $580, restitution $1,583.14 joint, no contact with victim or family, do not enter victim’s residence, supply DNA sample, no alcohol/controlled substance use, no possession of alcohol or drugs, random testing, sign all releases of information, sign probation agreement; – felony 1st degree burglary/dwelling occupied: commit to Commissioner of Corrections for 27 months stayed 5 years, 5 years supervised probation, $1,583.14 joint restitution, do not enter victim’s residence, no contact with victim or family, supply DNA sample, no alcohol/controlled substance use, no possession of alcohol or drugs, random testing, sign probation agreement, 9 months local confinement, fined $580, charges to run concurrently.

John Anton Joelson, 45, of Moose Lake –misdemeanor 5th degree criminal sexual conduct: fined $1,080 stayed $500 for 2 years.

Todd Michael Lake, 49, of Moose Lake – gross misdemeanor DWI .08 within 2 hours: 1 year local confinement stayed 9 months for 2 years, 2 years supervised probation, fined $3,080 stayed $1,500 for 2 years, complete treatment, DWI clinic, victim impact panel, no alcohol/controlled substance use, no possession of alcohol or drugs, random testing, no alcohol-related traffic offenses, AA, electronic home monitoring 30 days for indeterminate, 60 days local confinement.

Michael Kenneth Dickman, 57, of Carlton – misdemeanor disorderly conduct: 4 days local confinement.

Bruce Lamont Hecker, 56, of St. Paul, Minn. – misdemeanor disorderly conduct: 10 days local confinement.

James Halvor Ophus, 19, of Barnum – misdemeanor disorderly conduct: 60 days local confinement stayed 38 days for 1 year, remain law-abiding, do not violate conditions of probation in felony file.

Michael James Friedman, 42, of Cloquet – misdemeanor theft; 30 days local confinement.

Brandon Chad Lewis, 26, of Bullard, Texas – misdemeanor DWI .08 within 2 hours: 90 days local confinement stayed 90 days for 2 years, fined $1,080 stayed $500 for 2 years, no alcohol-related traffic offenses, DWI clinic, victim impact panel, no alcohol violations, pay restitution.

Fena Jean Reese, 39, of Duluth – misdemeanor driving after suspension: payable without appearance.

Darryl Lex Porter, 59, of Cloquet – misdemeanor driving after cancellation and misdemeanor driver must carry proof of insurance when operating vehicle: fined $680.
