Duluth Police have arrested three people in connection with an incident early Monday in which a handgun was used to threaten people in a Cloquet home.
Two men and a woman were taken into custody after a traffic stop in Duluth at 8 p.m. Monday, according to Cloquet Deputy Chief Terry Hill. All three are currently being held at St. Louis County Jail on suspicion of first degree aggravated robbery and second degree assault. Hill said he believed the suspects would be transported Tuesday or Wednesday to Carlton County to face possible charges.
The trio allegedly entered a home on the 400 block of 6th Street in Cloquet after midnight Monday. They reportedly did not force their way in, but gained access because the woman knew one of the residents.
"It appears they were looking to sell drugs," Hill said.
Soon after they arrived, one of the men demanded money from the four people who were at the home. He pulled out a handgun, pointed it at one of the men, approached him and searched his pockets, police said.
The victim did not have any cash and shortly after the suspects left the home, one of the victims called 911. Initially, the caller did not report anything stolen but called later Monday and reported that jewelry was missing.
No shots were fired and no one was injured in the incident.
The man brandishing the handgun was described as black, 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, in his late 20s with cornrow braids. The other man was described to police as black, 6' 2", 170 pounds in his early 20s with a shaved head.
