Ernest John Brademan, 93, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at Sunnyside Health Care Center in Cloquet.

Ernest John Brademan, 93, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at Sunnyside Health Care Center in Cloquet. He was born Dec. 13, 1915, in Amboy, Minn., to Otto and Mary (Hinz) Brademan. Ernie worked for the CCC Camp in 1935 and was united in marriage to Hilda Schlapkohl on July 2, 1938, in Giese, Minn. They moved to Cloquet from Finlayson, Minn., in 1951 and he worked at Northwest Paper for 27 years until his retirement in 1978.

Ernie spent his "spare time" farming on his 40 acres raising cattle, sheep, chickens, and a huge garden. He enjoyed his leisure time bowling, playing cribbage, pitching horseshoe (he has many trophies in this sport) and singing and playing his guitar along with his wife on the accordion. Ernie loved his Minnesota Twins and watched them faithfully to his last day.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hilda; brother, Emil; and one great-grandson, Colton.

He is survived by sons, David (Sandy) of Cloquet, Jim (Christine) of Placida, Fla., and Gary of Cloquet; daughters, Elaine (Howard) Vargason and Linda Gamble of Cloquet; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff at Sunnyside Health Care.

Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cloquet. The visitation will resume Saturday, Oct. 10, also at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service. Interment service will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, followed by a luncheon and time of fellowship in the church social hall.
