Have you visited the Cloquet Public Library recently? The library has been undergoing several updates to improve services to the public.
The library has a new logo, “Start here. Go anywhere,” which captures the philosophy and importance of public libraries.
“Many projects begin with a trip to the library and give people the basic information they need to succeed,” said Library Director Mary Lukkarila.
Recently, new sliding doors were also installed to make it easier for people in wheelchairs to enter the library. This initiative was funded in part through a grant from the Minnesota Department of Education using General Obligation Bonds under the authority of Minnesota Statute 134.45 and through city of Cloquet capital funds.
The Shaw Memorial Public Library Foundation, Inc. is now seeking financial help to install large flat screen televisions, speakers, and DVD players for the meeting rooms.
“This will help make community presentations easier and more visually friendly to participants,” stated Lukkarila. “The televisions and DVD players will enable people to use their DVDs, power point presentations and virtually any type of media presentation.”
Contact Lukkarila if you would like to make a donation toward this project, 218-879-1531.
The Foundation will also make the library more energy efficient by investing in new lighting. The energy efficient lights will not only provide more efficient lighting, but also save on the library’s operating expenses.
