Lake County Power's Operation Round Up(r) gives more than $24,000 to community programs

Grand Rapids, MN - Lake Country Power's Operation Round Up(r) Trust Board approved $24,507 in contributions to local community programs during its most recent quarterly meeting.

Grand Rapids, MN - Lake Country Power's Operation Round Up(r) Trust Board approved $24,507 in contributions to local community programs during its most recent quarterly meeting. The cooperative's Trust Board reviewed and considered 20 grant applications and distributed funds to the following local community-based projects and programs:

Community Service:

* Bethel Lutheran Church Women, Scanlon

Community Economic Assistance:

* Eagle Lake Cemetery, Cromwell

Operation Round Up(r) is a charitable program unique to electric co-ops that is designed to provide financial assistance to worthwhile activities and community projects by "rounding up" member's electric bills to the nearest dollar. Since the program's inception in October 2004, $690,213 has been distributed to 524 community- based projects and programs.

Of the funds collected through the program, 100 percent is distributed to charitable organizations. Operation Round Up(r) is governed by nine Lake Country Power members. Applications are available online at www.lakecountrypower.coop. The next application deadline is November 15.

Lake Country Power, www.lakecountrypower.coop, is a Touchstone Energy(r) cooperative serving parts of eight counties in northeastern Minnesota. The rural electric cooperative provides services to more than 41,000 members and has offices located in Grand Rapids, Kettle River and Mountain Iron.
