Congressman Jim Oberstar receives Golden Triangle award from Minnesota Farmers Union

ST. PAUL (September 17, 2009) – Members of Minnesota Farmers Union recently presented Congressman Jim Oberstar with the National Farmers Union Golden Triangle Award, the organization’s highest legislative award recognizing congressional leadership on behalf of farmers, ranchers and rural communities. The award was presented during the National Farmers Union legislative fly-in to Washington, D.C. September 14-16.

“Minnesota Farmers Union is very appreciative of Congressman Oberstar’s support for farming and rural issues and pleased to recognize Jim with the Golden Triangle award. There are still many challenges in rural America, and we look forward to continuing our work with Congressman Oberstar on making life better for the hard working farmers in Minnesota,” said Doug Peterson, Minnesota Farmers Union President.

The Golden Triangle Award is presented annually to select members of the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate in recognition of their leadership on issues important to rural America.

Minnesota Farmers Union (www.mfu.org) is a nonprofit membership-based organization working to protect and enhance the economic interests and quality of life of family farmers and ranchers, as well as rural communities.
