Duluth News Tribune Reader's View: Kudos to police for Hells Angels work
Why do we here in America live in a society that loves to exalt and reward base and abhorrent behavior? During the time the Hells Angles Motorcycle Club were in our county I had the privilege to thank three Minnesota state troopers for the fine job they were doing during this time. They were having lunch in Cloquet’s Wendy’s restaurant.
Is anybody else besides me tired of hearing all the whining about how badly the Hells Angels were treated while they were here? They were treated awfully well for the misconduct they have acted out in many of the cities in which they have been. Their crime rate is much higher than other elements of society, per capita, except maybe for the Mafia and Chicago’s Democratic Party.
So let’s all give a big thank you to the Minnesota state troopers, Carlton and St. Louis County deputies, the Cloquet police and other local police.
I also noticed way more game warden pickups and other various law enforcement people driving around our area at the time of the Hells Angels visit. How about the impressive helicopters flying over Black Bear Casino and the Lost Isle bar, watching the potential delinquents like a hawk? Great, huh?
It was nice for a change to see decency and common sense triumph. Do I want to see the Hells Angels come back to our area again? Of course! Everybody deserves a second chance. Give them another cordial greeting and a warm invitation in, say, 15 or 20 years.
