Although the Barnum baseball team didn’t win every game – it can be said of David Duesler’s team that when it was good, it was very, very good.
The Bombers showed how good they could be during one May game in which they posted 39 runs on the scoreboard in two short tournament games against Cromwell-Wright and Sandstone-East Central. The final scores of 17-6 and 22-8, respectively, show that this year’s squad was definitely able to score runs.
“It seems we either score 20 runs a game or none,” Duesler said. “Our big thing is everybody hits or nobody hits.”
That said, the Bombers also boast an 11-1 win against Cotton among its wins.
Shortstop Eric Johnson was a team leader with hits and runs scored while second baseman Kyle Duesler was hitting close to .500.
The Bombers were a veteran team that started seven seniors.
“They do hit the ball,” Duesler said of the Bombers. “We are just trying to play consistently.”
