Carlton County Historical Society raises money for Foundation through eating
This spring the Carlton County Historical Society Foundationis partnering with area restaurants to raise money for the Carlton County Historical Society Endowment Campaign.
“The Foundation’s goal is to raise a total of $200,000for our permanent endowment,” said Dave Guckenburg, chair of the Campaign Committee. With only $25,000 left to raise Guckenburg is confident that the campaign can wrap up this spring.
“We’ve got a wonderful list of restaurants partnering with us – all local, family businesses that have made tremendous contributions to our community – it’s only fitting that they be featured as ‘Historical Partners.’”
The schedule begins next Tuesday, May 5, at the Cozy Café in Carlton and continues through June ending with a week at Sammy’s Pizza.
Anne Dugan, director at the Historical Society laid out the plan: “It’s really easy – you can help us, help history, and help your local businesses by eating at the designated restaurant on the designated days and a portion of the sales will go to support the Historical Society Foundation’s efforts to preserve history for future generations.”
The schedule for “eating out for history” is as follows:
• May 5 (Tuesday) – Cozy Café, Carlton;
• May 13 (Wednesday) – Carmen’s, Cloquet;
• May 19 (Tuesday) – Family Tradition, Cloquet;
• May 26 (Tuesday) – Eskomo Pizza Pies, Esko and Poor Gary’s Pizza, Moose Lake;
• June 2 (Tuesday) – Gordy’s Hi-Hat, Cloquet; and
• June 8-June 14 – Sammy’s Pizza, Cloquet.
