ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Haley Bassett’s goal with 39.8 seconds remaining in regulation rescued Cloquet from imminent defeat and sent its girls soccer state tournament game against East Ridge into overtime tied at 1-1 tonight at Roseville Area High School.

Anna Bygrave gave the Raptors the lead in the Class A quarterfinal, drilling in a cross from Noelle Arcand with 3:07 left in the second half.

The teams are playing 20 minutes of sudden death before a possible shootout to decide the victor.

The teams tied 0-0 in the first half in a steady rain.

The closest scoring chance came when Cloquet senior forward Emily Johnson right-footed a crossing pass off the football crossbar, just above the crossbar of the soccer goal.

The Lumberjacks (18-3-1), winners of Section 7, are seeking their first state tournament victory since 2002. This is their sixth overall tournament.

The Woodbury-based Raptors (13-6-1), champions of Section 4, are in their first year of existence.
